Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American musician and singer. She was born December 13th, 1989. Her discography spans multiple genres, and her songwriting--often inspired by her personal life--has received critical praise and wide media coverage. Swift was born in West Reading (PA) and moved to Nashville as a teenager to pursue a career as an artist in the country music industry. Swift signed a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and a recording contract with Big Machine Records in 2005. Swift was the first female country singer to make an U.S. platinum-certified debut album, and it was a self-titled album. Swift's subsequent albums, Fearless (2008), and Speak Now (2010), were a focus on country pop. The first album's "Love Story" and "You Are My Friend" were among the first country songs to be ranked on the U.S. pop and all-genre airplay charts respectively. She tried out electronic and rock styles in Red (2012) the album that featured her debut Billboard Hot 100 number-one song, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and she eschews her traditional image on her synth-pop album, 1989 (2014) which was accompanied by chart-topping tracks "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", and "Bad Blood". Reputation (2017) was released in 2017 and its top-charting track "Look What You Made Me Do", was the result of media scrutiny. Exiting Big Machine, Swift signed with Republic Records in 2018 and released her seventh studio album, Lover (2019), which was followed by her autobiographical documentary Miss Americana (2020). In her 2020 albums Folklore and Red, Swift delved into alternative and indie rock. Her singles "Cardigan", "Willow" as well as "Willow," topped the Hot 100. After a dispute over her masters Swift began to re-record six of her albums. Swift released two albums in 2021: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red. "All Too Well (10 minute version)" was the longest track to make it to the top of the Hot 100. The album she released in 2022, Midnights and its lead single "Anti-Hero" have set new records for streaming music that have stood the test of time. Swift has also produced music films and videos like All Too Well, The Short Film (2021) and performed supporting roles. With more than 200 million albums worldwide, Swift is one of the best-selling musicians in history. Swift is the highest-rated female on Spotify and is the only artist to have five albums with over one million copies sold within the US. Her accolades include 12 Grammy Awards, including three Album of the Year wins and an Emmy Award; 40 American Music Awards and 29 Billboard Music Awards; and 92 Guinness World Records. Swift is included in many high-profile rankings, such as the Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songswriters of All Time and Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists. Honored with titles such as Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade, Swift is an advocate for artists' rights and women's empowerment.
